Limited Permit Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) - New York, NY
This is an amazing opportunity to join a psychotherapy group at its inception and to grow your career with a passionate and experienced clinical and business team. There will be opportunities for future supervisor roles available for experienced therapists from within the group. We are currently seeking a Limited Permit Mental Health Counselor (LP‑MHC) to join our vibrant team. This is an ideal opportunity for emerging mental health practitioners building toward full licensure in New York State. The LP‑MHC will provide psychotherapy under supervision for individuals, couples and/or run groups. The roll as staff therapist at NYVP will involve a full or partial case load, working under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional. Clinicians are expected to contribute to our lively clinical community and embrace NYVP’s ethos of excellence, empathy, and professional development.
Responsibilities:
Conduct individual, couples and/or group psychotherapy sessions to assess and address various mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma and relationship challenges.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and their families, ensuring adherence to ethical guidelines and HIPAA regulations.
Maintain accurate and timely client records in the electronic health record system, adhering to documentation policies.
Collaborate with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
Participate in supervision sessions and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and meet licensure requirements.
Maintain licensure in good standing with the New York State Education Department.
Uphold ethical and confidential practices in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Demonstrated interest in clinical consultation and peer supervision.
Requirements:
Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited program approved by the NYS Education Department.
Possess a Limited Permit (MHC-LP) to practice in New York State or be eligible to apply for one.
A minimum of one year of direct client clinical experience.
Previous experience in providing psychotherapy to individual clients is required. Professional references are required.
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of various therapeutic techniques.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in utilizing telehealth tools and computer applications.
Commitment to providing compassionate and culturally sensitive care.
